What this calculator does
Pick two dates to see the number of days between them, the same period in weeks and in years, months and days, and how many of those days are business days. It is useful for payment terms, notice periods, project deadlines, visa and contract dates, or counting down to an event.
How to use it
- Choose a start date and an end date.
- Choose which days count as the weekend.
- Tick “Include the end date” if both the first and last day should count.
How the days are counted
By default the calculator counts the days from the start date up to, but not including, the end date. From 1 January to 2 January is 1 day. This matches how most people count “days until” a date.
When you include the end date, one day is added. A leave period from Monday 19 October to Friday 23 October 2026 is 5 days when the end date is included, and all 5 are business days.
Years and months are counted in calendar months. When a month is shorter than the start day, the period ends on the last day of that month, so 31 January to 28 February 2026 is 1 month.
Limitations
Business days leave out the weekend days you choose, but not public holidays, company closures or half days. UAE public holidays that follow the Islamic calendar move each year and are confirmed close to the date, so subtract them yourself when they fall inside your period.
Does the calculator include the start date?
Yes. The start date is always counted. The end date is only counted when you tick “Include the end date”.
What if the end date is before the start date?
The calculator swaps the dates and tells you, so you still get the number of days between them.
Are public holidays excluded from business days?
No. Business days only exclude weekend days. Subtract any public holidays in the period yourself.
Are leap years handled?
Yes. Every calendar day is counted, including 29 February in leap years.
