What this calculator does

This is a salary composition and breakdown tool, not a legal payroll engine. It helps you see how your basic salary, allowances, and other earnings add up to your gross salary, and what's left after any deductions you enter yourself.

The UAE and personal income tax

Salary and employment income are not currently subject to UAE personal income tax.

This does not make the tool payroll software or determine whether any deduction is permitted. Any deduction shown by this calculator is exactly what you typed in, not a legally calculated figure. Eligible UAE nationals may be subject to a pension arrangement depending on the applicable scheme; this calculator does not calculate or apply pension deductions automatically.

How the breakdown works

Gross monthly salary is your basic salary plus all allowances plus any overtime/other earnings you enter. Gross annual salary is simply that figure × 12.

The reference daily and hourly wage use the same Taskmoro convention as our gratuity and overtime calculators (basic salary ÷ 30, then ÷ 8). It is shown for reference only, not as a universal legal payroll method or a formula established by the supplied official sources.

Disclaimer

This calculator provides an estimate only, based on the figures you enter. It is not payroll software, not a tax filing tool, and not legal, tax, or financial advice. Check the latest MOHRE/UAE Government guidance, or your own payroll records, for an official determination.

Official references

Is salary tax-free in the UAE?

Salary and employment income are not currently subject to UAE personal income tax. This calculator can still show deductions that you enter yourself; it does not decide whether a deduction is lawful.

What is the difference between basic salary and gross salary?

Basic salary is the fixed base pay in your contract. Gross salary is basic salary plus allowances (housing, transport, etc.) and other recurring earnings — the total before any deductions.

Are allowances part of basic salary?

No. Allowances are a separate component. Several UAE entitlements — gratuity, leave encashment, overtime — are calculated on basic salary only, not gross salary.

Why does basic salary matter?

Because it's the reference figure for gratuity, unused leave encashment and overtime pay under UAE labour law, not your total take-home pay.

Can employers make deductions?

Deductions can depend on employment terms and applicable law. This calculator only reflects an amount you enter; it does not make a legal determination about whether a deduction is permitted.

Is overtime included?

Only if you enter it. You can type a known AED overtime amount directly, or work it out first on the UAE Overtime Calculator and bring the result back here.

Does this apply to UAE nationals?

The salary breakdown math applies generally. Eligible UAE nationals may be subject to a pension arrangement depending on the applicable scheme. Contribution rates can differ between pension laws, and this calculator does not calculate or apply pension deductions automatically.

Is this an official payroll calculator?

No. It's a salary composition breakdown to help you understand your own numbers — not payroll software, and not a substitute for your employer's payroll records or official MOHRE/WPS guidance.
